(Update 2) Typhoon Frank batters the Philippines

Reported dead rises to 229, according to an INQUIRER.net report.

(UPDATE) More than 80 people were reported dead, while more than 700 people in a capsized ship were reported missing as a result of the typhoon that battered the country. Thousands were also left homeless, as floods were reported in different parts of the country. Classes on Monday have also been suspended in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

According to INQUIRER.net, storm Frank has maintained its strength, as rains and strong winds continue to hit several provinces along its path, including Metro Manila.
