Slower Internet in RP: telcos

Expect slower Internet speeds in the next few weeks, telecommunications companies and Internet service providers said.
This is due to the ongoing repairs (or even replacement) of major underwater fiber optic cables that were damaged after this week’s Taiwan quake.

(Ironically, I’m currently experiencing faster Internet despite this report. Go figure.)
Yes this explains the “intermittent” or slowing down of Internet services since this morning. Apparently, the 7.1 earthquake that hit Taiwan damaged major submarine fiber optic cables connecting the Philippines to the international networks.

TeleTech appoints new RP head

Here’s some news from INQ7.net Infotech today:
Business process outsourcing operator TeleTech Holdings has appointed Maulik Parekh as its new vice president and general manager for the Philippines.
Parekh will be replacing Craig Reines, who himself has been appointed as the company’s general manager for developing markets.
