On being nominated: a reply to Four-eyed Journal

I got this email from Julius Rocas who is doing a behind-the-scene story about the Philippine Blog Awards. He’s calling it, “The road to the Philippine Blog Awards.” Thanks in advance Jhay.

I’m Jhay, the blogger behind The Four-eyed Journal I’d like to interview you via this e-mail about the Philippine Blog Awards to which you’ve been nominated and included in the finalists’ list.

This interview is the highlight for my new and special blogging series entitled; ” The road to the Philippine Blog Awards: Nominees Spotlight” The aim of this project is to further promote the Philippine Blog Awards and of course the nominees for it, that’s you! :D

Below are the questions for this interview, you can answer them any way you like. Once you’ve answered them, do send it back to me so that I can publish it on The Four-eyed Journal for everyone to read and to know more about you and your blog.

1. How does it feel to be nominated for the PBA?

I was surprised to find myself among the nominees in the news and media category. I thought my blog was more personal. But I guess people see it differently. How do I feel? WAAAAAAAAAAH! ;-) (Imagine me jumping 10 times, and doing the dance of joy from Perfect Strangers).
2. Do you know who nominated you?

Nope.

3. Why do you think your blog was nominated?

Maybe people felt that something was worth reading in my blog. I’ve been doing this for close to 3 years. So perhaps I’ve touched on issues worth looking into. My blog is just me talking out loud in cyberspace hoping someone would stop and listen.

4. Who do you think will win in your category?

That’s easy me! hahaha. Kidding aside, I think Inside PCIJ deserves this award. I like the group blog.

5. Why do you think you should win?

First, they find me relevant. Second, I don’t bore them with links and recycled information. Third, they really, really, really love me. haha.

6. What would you do if you win?

Blog about it. I really don’t know. I’m still in denial ;-).
7. What do you think of the Philippine blog awards?

Just like any other award, it helps promote something, in this case blogging. It is also a good way of discovering more bloggers out there. But I think being read is already a rewarding experience.

8. Is there a blog that’s not nominated but deserves to be nominated in the PBA?

Yes, my colleague and editor Joey Alarilla’s Babel Machine blog.
9. Would you join the next Philippine blog awards?

Yes.

10. Any messages to your fellow nominees?

Good luck and may the force be with you!

Congratulations for being a finalist for the Philippine Blog Awards 2007 under the News and Media Category.

I’m Jun Asis of magandangbalita.com and mabutingbalita.net, part of the organizing team for the Awards Night.

I’m making the rounds to gather the contact info and establish direct communication with the finalists. This will give us an avenue to give instructions and other details.

May we ask for the following please?

    Real Name:
    Email address
    Mobile Number
City and Country where you are based

Once this is settled, we’ll know where to communicate the Awards Night details with.

We hope to hear from you soon.

All the best to you and your blog.
